imperfection is what connects.

I’m Erika.

I’m a mother, a partner, and a social worker mainly. Otherwise, I am also a potter, a yogi, and a traveler.

I lived in Mexico City for two years, hiked 1,300 miles of the Pacific Crest Trail, and traveled around the country and world. Over time and through these experiences, I found grounding and meaning in advocacy and service work. This led me to seek my master’s degree in social work.

I am passionate about connecting people and creating community. I believe in vulnerability and realness, and appreciate this deeply. I strive to embody this myself and be an example for my daughter.

I believe we are all “walking each other home” and I hope TERRAKOTA can be a space of centering in what is good and whole and real for you.

I make pottery because I appreciate the art and utility of it. The process is meditative and satisfying.

The use of my pottery slows me down and settles me in.

Pronounced teh·ruh·kow·tuh.

terra = earth

kota = friend; in addition to referencing my daughter Dakota

terrakota = earth friend

If you want to get warm you must stand near the fire: if you want to be wet you must get into the water. If you want joy, power, peace, eternal life, you must get close to, or even into, the thing that has them.
